By the Skin of their Teeth

Kilnbridge delivers a “full package” of integrated construction services across the infrastructure, rail, aviation, commercial and residential sectors. They specialise in: structural alterations, modifications, retrofit and refurbishment to existing structures, sub and superstructure frame construction, Concrete Cutting, Fire Protection and Waste Management services.

In a diverse and fast-moving organisation such as Kilnbridge, safety is paramount. As part of their ongoing commitment to providing a safe environment for all their staff, the leadership team were keen to focus on the attitudes of all their leaders, supervisors and staff.

The Challenge

As an organisation focused on continuous improvement where lessons learned from practical experience are shared throughout the business; our challenge was to focus on a real incident and create a series of bespoke and impactful sessions. Firstly a full-day session for the leaders and then a series of half-day sessions for all staff in the organisation.

Our Solution

In order to portray an authentic version of the site incident, our Creative Director Mark Knight produced a hard-hitting film featuring interviews with the staff involved in the incident. This authentic and emotional film provided a focus for the sessions which also featured a cast of actors delivering theatre created especially for Kilnbridge.

Delivered over the course of 5-days in Docklands, London the key themes of the sessions included:

  1. Understanding every individual’s responsibility to create a safety focused culture.
  2. Recognising the difference between managing and leading safety.
  3. Why challenging unsafe behaviours and attitudes is critical to maintaining a safe working environment.
